Heart disease is a leading cause of death and disability in the Western world. Men are more likely to develop heart disease than women. If left untreated you can be at high risk of a heart attack or a stroke and could be life-threatening.

Around 1 in 70 men in England over the age of 65 will have an abdominal aortic aneurysm. Rupture of an abdominal aortic aneurysm is a life-threatening event, but it can be treated if detected early.

A sperm test (semen analysis) is usually advised if a couple is having difficulty becoming pregnant (conceiving). The aim is to see if the semen and sperm made by the male partner are normal or not. A semen analysis will also be requested following a vasectomy.
